Private, previously unseen photos of Princess Diana and Prince Charles with three-month-old Prince William will be offered at Willingham auction.
The photos, from September 1982, show a beaming Charles cradling his infant son and Princess Diana cradling the newborn.
Others show Charles posing next to the Queen, wearing a gray and red tartan skirt.
The 22 photos were taken during a visit by British Airways businessman Baron King, who was a friend of the royal family.
“There have been a lot of pictures taken of Princess Diana, but they offer a really personal insight,” said Stephen Drake, auctioneer at Willingham Auctions.
“The set of photos is a real one-off, and you will never come across another set of photos like this.
“The picture of Charles holding William is absolutely adorable, he looks like a happy, proud father.
“In the photos, Diana, Charles and William look like a complete family group. You see a lot of press photos but this one is nothing like that, they are portrayed as ordinary people, which is quite the experience for royalty.”
“As auctioneers we are only custodians of our items for a short period of time and it is very exciting to have them here. It really is causing quite a bit of interest.
“The sky’s the limit for price. We’ve never had anything like this before. Lots of pictures of Princess Diana have been sold before, but nothing quite as comforting as this and nothing so early in her marriage.”
“The photo set comes with the negatives, so whoever buys them will own the copyright and that’s the premium. There are also no other copies of these photos – these are the only ones. We’ll see what happens on the day. We have high hopes.”
Other photos in the unique collection show a calm-looking Princess Diana and Charles – now King Charles III – sitting on the grounds with its green wells and looking out over the royal estate.
Diana, who was wearing shorts and a yellow jacket, laid a blue coat on the floor for her to sit on.
In another photo, Princess Diana, in a white polo neck, looks sweetly at Prince William as she shows him off to Baron King.
One of the pictures shows Diana standing on a gate with beautiful views of Balmoral behind her.
The photos and film negatives will be auctioned off at 10am on March 4th.
