Turkiye’s National Security Council yesterday praised what it described as a “positive climate in bilateral relations with Greece,” adding that the latter would “benefit both sides, and the region.”
“The ongoing developments in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean are being closely followed,” the council stressed.
Relations between Turkey and Greece escalated over disputed Mediterranean islands. However, Athens has reportedly resumed ties with Ankara after the deadly earthquakes
which took place on February 6 and killed over 50,000 people.
Greek Defense Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos recently said that he would visit the earthquake-hit areas of southeastern Turkey on April 4 and meet with his Turkish counterpart,
Hulusi Akar.
