No need to question Scottie Scheffler about his Masters Club dinner menu.
The 2022 Masters winner and current #1 ranked in the world will serve a cheeseburger slider, shrimp, fireworks and Texas ribeye among the backyard barbecue offerings for the annual meal hosted by the defending champion.
Scheffler will host the dinner on April 4 — in front of all past Masters winners and the Augusta National President — before beginning his title defense from April 6.
That is, if he and his fellow golfers weren’t crammed.
The menu also includes tortilla soup, blackened redfish – for those who don’t like red meat – with sides of macaroni and cheese, creamy jalapeno corn, sauteed Brussels sprouts and spiced hash browns, served family style.
Oh, and chocolate chip cookies and ice cream for dessert.
Scheffler’s dinner will be the first since LIV Golf’s inception, and the room could house many of the golfers who have jumped into the Saudi-backed startup — including three-time Masters champion Phil Mickelson.
Despite any ongoing hostilities between the two factions, Scheffler expects it to be about dinner.
“Getting all these guys together in a room, I mean, it should be a lot of fun,” Scheffler said at last month’s Genesis Invitational.
“It’s a historic group of people, the Masters champions, and I’m sure we’ll all put our personal opinions aside and just have a good night and kind of enjoy what the night really is.”
The Masters Club dinner dates back to 1952 and was started by Ben Hogan to bring all the champions together.
First-time winners typically choose a listing to showcase their heritage or upbringing.
Recent examples include Hideki Matsuyma’s Sushi and Adam Scott’s Moreton Bay Bugs.
Tiger Woods introduced cheeseburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, french fries, and strawberry-vanilla milkshakes after his first win in 1998.
