These world famous sales have been held in Kelso since 1838 and still mark the number one sale of rams in the country.
With sales in 15 episodes, this important event has once again been enthusiastically received by dispatchers and buyers, old and new, always causing a stir in the farming community across the UK.
Dan Withall, executive director of the Union Frontier Agricultural Society, said: “We’re thrilled to be offering this year’s sale, again under the guise of awnings for 2022. We’ve already received inquiries from across the country and expect a healthy entry for this year. The entire region benefits from Kelso Ram Sales with recognition of its commercial importance across the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland”.
Peter Douglas, President of the Border Union Agricultural Society, said: “2021 has been a tremendous success with new record averages and a record price for the Texel Shearling ram. We are delighted to be back under the hood in 2022 and anticipate a large entry book for this year’s event.
“A large amount of national focus is increasingly concerned with sustainable resources and Kelso Ram Sales exemplifies this industry, the importance of heritage and pedigree. We expect a busy and productive day.
Sales of the 2022 Kelso Ram, powered by Solantel, will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 9th. Entries will close August 3. Polling will take place on Thursday, August 11.
