Two men have been charged after allegedly intimidating boats of people – some containing children – on the Murray River border between New South Wales and Victoria.
On Saturday afternoon, 15 men on a boat were allegedly seen on the Murray River between Moama and Ikuka harassing people in other boats.
Among these was a houseboat chartered by nine women; One of them, who called 3AW anonymously, described how some men jumped on their boat, urinated on their belongings, exposed themselves, threw bottles and shouted death threats.

“It was very terrifying; we were really afraid for our safety,” the caller said.
There was no logic with them either.
“Some of them were so drunk that they would jump between the boats and fall into them; it was all very frightful.”
The woman described how she and her friends allegedly had to barricade themselves in the upstairs section of the houseboat for half an hour until the men moved on.
Two other women also contacted 3AW Mornings to detail alleged clashes with the group on the same stretch of river.

One of them said, “We were on another houseboat and we had children and the men were shaming themselves, shouting profanities and raising their fingers.”
NSW Police confirmed on Tuesday that it had spoken to two men, aged 26 and 28, in Victoria, and had issued them Field Court Appearance Notices for Intimidation.
They are due to appear in Mwama District Court on May 11.
Police investigations continue.
