Sydney man Delor Yeritzian claims Balinese thieves put him in hospital

A tourist in Bali has suffered six broken ribs and a fractured skull after he and his girlfriend claim they were mugged while riding a motorbike in the holiday hot spot.

Delores Yertzian and his partner Cosette Karam, both from Lebanon and now living in Sydney, were enjoying their last evening on the Indonesian holiday island last Monday when they decided to go for a midnight McDonald’s.

The couple were riding a motorbike from the fast food restaurant home when Mrs. Karam whipped out her phone for directions.

But the couple claim this quickly caught the attention of two men in black helmets and black bodysuits, who stood next to them and snatched the phone from Ms. Karam’s hand – causing Mr. Yeretzian to lose control and crash.

Delor Yeretzian is recovering in a hospital in Bali after he was allegedly mugged while riding a scooter in the hot holiday spot last week.

Delores Eritzian and his partner Cosette Karam, both from Lebanon and now living in Sydney, were enjoying their last night in Bali when they claimed they had been suddenly attacked.

He now lies in a hospital bed in Bali and faces a $69,000 medical bill because he did not purchase his trip with a credit card that would normally provide him with travel insurance.

A fundraiser has since been set up to help bring the tourist back to Australia.

Besides several broken ribs and a fractured shoulder, Mr. Yeretzian has a buildup of blood and fluid in his lungs and has suffered a minor fracture to his skull.

Anthony Mata, Yeritzian’s cousin, wrote that he and his girlfriend were traveling at about 50 kilometers per hour when they were attacked. GoFundMe.

Mr. Matta said, “Cosette immediately got up and saw her loving friend on the floor, his eyes rolling to the back of his head, and making unusual sounds.”

Besides having multiple areas of her body grazed, scratched, and bruised, there is also a haunting image of her injured partner that Cosette will forever etch into her brain.

“We are thankful that they are both simply breathing, it is a miracle that they are both alive even after such a horrific attack.”

Ms Karam said in a Facebook post that the police were unable to help and because her partner was not fit to travel home, he required surgery on Bali.

“We really need all the help we can get right now,” she said.

To date, the fundraiser has received more than $50,000 in donations.
