Steve Clarke announces Scotland’s squad for the matches against Spain and Cyprus

The Dark Blues will aim to get their campaign off to a fast start with two home games to kick off their playoffs.

Cyprus will be visiting Hampden Park on Saturday, March 25th, at 2 p.m.

Spain will qualify at the National Stadium on Tuesday, March 28, with kick-off at 7:45pm.

Goalkeeper Angus Gunn was named to the 23-man squad for his first Scotland call-up. He will compete with Liam Kelly and Xander Clarke for a starting spot in goal, while Craig Gordon missed his spot as he continues his recovery from injury.

Scotland are supported by the return of Callum McGregor, who missed the November friendly against Turkey through injury. The midfielder is on his way to winning his 50th cap against Cyprus.

Fullback Aaron Hickey also returned after missing that game, while Nathan Patterson has recovered from an injury to bolster defense.

Lyndon Dykes takes his place in the squad having recently returned to QPR after recovering from illness.

The Cyprus match will mark Scotland’s first competitive test since a difficult 0-0 draw in Ukraine to top their Nations League group in September.
