With clusters of heavy snow affecting the area this morning and more expected throughout the day, the latest update from the Met Office comments that bouts of snow are expected to develop late Wednesday afternoon and early evening, particularly in areas over 100 to 200. m across large parts of the northeast.

Later on Wednesday evening and into the early hours of Thursday morning, that snow will turn to rain as fair weather spreads across the British Isles.

Meanwhile, below 100 to 200 metres, snow may fall briefly in the late afternoon and early evening before turning to rain.

Snow accumulates mainly in areas above 200 to 300 metres, with several centimeters of snow falling in some places, especially in Scotland, and over 400 metres, snow can be more than 10 centimeters in some places.
