The Russian government has awarded the pilots involved in harassing and crashing a US drone in international airspace.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu presented official awards to fighter jet pilots responsible for shooting down a US drone over the Black Sea earlier this week.

The Ministry of Defense, in an official statement, commended the pilots for preventing the drone from “violating the boundaries of the temporary airspace regime established for the special military operation.”
The statement accuses the American plane of flying with its transceivers.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has stood by its earlier claims that the plane did not touch the drone at any point, though US video shows the jet cutting off its propeller, forcing it to crash into the Black Sea.
“The Russian planes did not use weapons on board, did not come into contact with the drone, and returned safely to their original airport,” the ministry said.
