Port Harcourt, Enugu, Kano airports shutdown as preventive measures to Coronavirus spread

The federal government of Nigerian has ordered the closure of three international airports in the country, in an effort to reduce the spread of coronavirus in Nigeria.

DG of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Musa Nuhu confirmed this via a statement released yesterday March 19th.

The affected airports are Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano State; Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu State; and the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa and their closure will take effect as from tomorrow, Saturday March 21st.

On the other hand, Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos will be allowed to operate but flights from the 13 COVID-19 (Coronavirus) high-risk countries will not be allowed in.

This is coming after the federal government ordered the closure of all tertiary institutions and unity schools across Nigeria.
