Plans to sell Tesla cars at the Bar Hill business park have now been submitted to South Cambridgeshire County Council.
The electric car maker hopes to open a showroom and service areas after demolishing a Bridgehouse in Saxon Way.
The new site will include 99 car parking spaces, 12 “supercharge” spaces and 60 bike spaces.
The applicant, Legal and General (Pension Management) Ltd, said the “high quality commercial scheme” would create new jobs.
Its planning documents read: “The proposal presents a unique opportunity for Tesla to better serve the Cambridge market given the current shortage of available sites within the Cambridge car market and the high demand in the area.
Tesla Service Centers provide the opportunity to purchase, maintain and charge electric vehicles and supercharging points.
“These centers promote and facilitate the transition towards zero-emission vehicles and are clearly aligned with government goals related to improvements in air quality and mitigation of climate change.”
A public consultation event about the plans was held in January, the Cambridge Independent reported.
