Young Michael Chiricosta was happy to gift him a day on a charter boat for his eleventh birthday.
It is a family tradition for Michael and his father to go on a charter over the Labor Day long weekend to coincide with his birthday.
On this occasion they headed out with Blue Juice Charters.
They fished northeast of Rottnest Island and Michael found himself hooking up with a good fish.
He battled it for over five minutes and when Michael got to the boat it was an amazing snapper, one of the most beautiful fish in the ocean with its amazing blue and yellow colour.
Caught on a single hook rig with squid as bait, it was 78 cm long and fulfilled his birthday wish of catching a big fish.
