The co-directors of An Irish Goodbye led a happy birthday chorus to the film’s star James Martin from the stage after the film won the award.
Best animated short went to The Boy, The Mole, The Fox & The Horse: a UK-US co-production, which premiered on BBC One on Christmas Eve.
The film, based on Charlie McCheese’s novel of the same name, drew a UK TV audience of 7.3 million, making it one of the most watched shows last Christmas.
Finally, the Academy Award for Best Soundtrack went to the team that worked on the fantastic sequel Top Gun: Maverick, which included British talent Chris Burdon and Mark Taylor.

The multiverse sci-fi epic, directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, won seven awards including three gongs for acting, best direction and best picture.

On stage, Yeoh said, “For all the little boys and girls who look like me, this is a beacon of hope and possibility.
“Dream big, dreams come true. Ladies, don’t let anyone tell you you’re past your prime.”
“This is history in the making,” she added.
Yeoh star Jamie Lee Curtis, 64, won her first Oscar, for supporting the actress.
Kwan and Schinert, known collectively as “The Daniels,” took home the award for Best Direction—only the third time the duo has received the award.

Vietnam-born American star Ke Huy Quan — who you may recognize from his previous roles in Indiana Jones and The Goonies — received a standing ovation when he took to the stage after taking home Best Supporting Actor for his role in Everything Everywhere All At One.
Like Yeoh, he became Huy Quan first person of Asian descent to win this category.
Upon accepting the award, he explained his humble beginnings.
Huy Quan said: “I started my journey on a boat.
“I spent a year in a refugee camp and somehow ended up here on the biggest stage in Hollywood.”
