Only a man can play a spy

He’s letting the sky fall on a female 007.

Sir Roger Moore’s son Geoffrey — also known as Jaffa — joined the pop culture fray on Thursday to declare that the role of James Bond should only be played by men.

The offspring of the late musician said it simply “wouldn’t be James Bond” if a woman took on the iconic role of Ian Fleming’s international spy.

Moore, 56, “Well, it’s not about James Bond anymore” UK Express said. “I mean, it could be 006 or 008 or 009…it wouldn’t be the same because it’s Bond. It’s Fleming’s Bond. He’s a man, unfortunately.”

Moore’s comments come after the title “007” was passed down to Lashana Lynch’s character at the end of the latest Bond installment No Time to Die, which marked the end of Daniel Craig’s tenure as the iconic spy.

“In the last Bond movie, I think that was the confusion,” Moore explained. “that’s it [Lashana’s character, Nomi] It was 007 and then he said, “I have to give it back to Bond. It’s his number. So I think that’s pretty good — and I think they were also testing the waters.”

Moore’s father, Sir Roger Moore, who He passed away in 2017 after a battle with cancer. He played a super spy over the course of seven films during the 1970s and 1980s before leaving the character at the age of 58.

Moore quit the franchise when he realized he couldn’t “hang around women in their early 20s without sounding intimidating,” according to one Interview with the mirror shortly before his death.

The candid fruits of Sir Roger’s Strongest suggested that someone could potentially do something with the protagonist.

The younger Moore said, “Maybe there will be a ‘James Bond filmmaker come Jane or Jemima Bond’ or whatever”.

Despite this, Moore still firmly believes that a man should portray the character.

However, the potential candidate for “nepo baby” declared that women deserve an equally successful franchise.

“It’s true and they should,” Moore said.

He went on to endorse the possibility last Spy movies led by women.

“If you look at Charlize Theron in ‘Atomic Blonde’… I mean, women can definitely pull it off and definitely do fight sequences,” he said. “And even if not, maybe the ladies are smarter! But as far as the role itself is concerned, Fleming Bond is James Bond.”

Actor Daniel Craig echoed the pro-male-only James Bond sentiment in 2021 ahead of the release of “No Time To Die.”

“Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a role as good as James Bond, but for a woman?” Craig said in an interview With Radio Times.

Celebrity franchise producer Barbara Broccoli also made the statement in 2020 Talk to Variety.

“James Bond could be any color, but he’s male,” said the 61-year-old. “I think we have to make new characters for women — strong female characters.”

“I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and being played by a woman. I think women are much more interesting than that.”
