Mike Pence to Iranian Activists: Anti-Regime Protests a ‘Revolution in the Making’

The current anti-regime protests in Iran are “a revolution in the making,” according to former US Vice President Mike Pence, who criticized the Biden and Obama administrations for their ineffectiveness in combating Iranian threats, while warning that renewing the nuclear deal would pave a “golden” path for the Islamic Republic to obtain Nuclear bomb.

At a Washington summit hosted by the Organization of Iranian American Communities (OIAC) in support of a free and democratic Iran on Saturday, Pence addressed Iranian anti-regime activists, delivering a major foreign policy speech that focused on the Islamic regime.

He referred to the “common cause” he shared with the Iranian-Americans in attendance: “the liberation of the Iranian people from decades of tyranny, and the revival of a free, peaceful, prosperous and democratic Iran.” Pence went on to say:

I know I speak for tens of millions of Americans, of both political parties and every political philosophy, when I say from the bottom of our hearts: The American people support your goal of a secular, democratic, non-nuclear Iranian Republic whose powers derive from the consent of the governed.

Pence then criticized America’s “silence” in 2009 and the Obama administration’s “lukewarm support” when “millions of brave men and women filled the streets of Tehran and Tabriz” to denounce “rigged elections” and demand “an end to decades of oppression.”

The American cause is freedom. America should never be silent on this issue, he declared, adding that the American people are “with you – yesterday, today, and always”.

On the other hand, he expressed his pride in the Trump and Pence administration, when “America did not deafen its ears to the pleas of the Iranian people. [and] He has not remained silent in the face of the Iranian regime’s countless atrocities, which are sowing violence across the region.”

Furthermore, he explained:

We stood with freedom lovers in Iran. We canceled the Iran nuclear deal, which flooded the regime’s coffers with tens of billions of dollars – money it used to oppress its own people and support deadly terrorist attacks around the world. We imposed tough new sanctions on Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. We launched a campaign of maximum pressure, to punish the regime for its aggressive behavior and assault on its citizens. We have imposed tough sanctions to bring Iran’s oil exports close to zero and deprive the regime of its main source of income.

We called on the free nations of the world to stand with us and with the Iranian people [and] We encouraged world leaders to condemn Iran’s unelected dictators and defend the Iranian people’s inalienable right to self-determination.

He also called on the current administration to “waiver the sanctions imposed by the Trump-Pence administration regarding the Iranian regime’s nuclear activities.”

“Appeasement never worked, and never will.”

According to Pence, the renewal of the nuclear deal will not lead to “peace and stability” but to “more terrorism, death and destruction”, while destabilizing the region.

He also claimed that it would not block Iran’s path towards a nuclear bomb but would “pave it with gold,” adding that such a deal would “not benefit the Iranian people in any way, shape, or form” but would “empower and enrich the regime that has tortured and tortured the Iranian people for generations.”

As a result, Pence called on the Biden administration to “stand by the Iranian people… to defend the cause of freedom and justice… and to cease and desist all efforts to support nuclear negotiations” with the regime, stating that “peace is only possible with force.”

Pence, who has called for America’s “silence” in the past, noted that the Iranian regime “has never been weaker than it is today,” as the “Iranian people are fed up with [and] ready for change,” he also praised the Iranian resistance, which “has never been stronger.”

with [Iranian opposition MEK (Mujahadin-e Khalq)’s] Leaders, teachers, workers and retirees bravely took to the streets in more than 280 cities in 31 provinces. Students from more than 130 universities – even high school students – brought new energy to this cause. Previously, protests were isolated and sporadic. Now as the world’s media watches as they can, protests have continued non-stop over the past six months.

According to Pence, the current anti-regime demonstrations in Iran “are not just another protest [but] A revolution in the making.”

“This is due to the trust and faith of all of you, and especially the brave Iranians – especially the women who have paid a heavy price – who have compared the decades-old struggle for freedom and justice,” he said.

He also called for “fake reformers and agents of the regime who pretend to be moderates.”

“We know that many of the so-called reformers offer nothing more than false hope and the illusion of change,” he said. “But the Iranian people want real change – and real change is exactly what the MEK is delivering.”

He concluded his speech by calling on “all free countries” in the world to “continue to support the Iranian people in their calls for freedom and to demand that Iran’s leaders cease their dangerous and destabilizing actions at home and abroad.”

“We stand with the Iranian people because they are right, and because the regime in Tehran threatens world peace and security,” he added.

Last week, a bipartisan majority supported A resolution expressing congressional support for the Democratic Republic of Iran while advocating a New Iran Policy in light of the continued protests by the Iranian people and the increasing repression by the “theocratic thugs whom they have suppressed for far too long.”

The resolution, which was sponsored by 223 members of the US House of Representatives, supports the Iranian uprisings for a secular republic. He points out that Iranian opposition Mujahedin-e Khalq (PMOI) political leader and elected president of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Maryam Rajavi’s “ten-point plan” to guarantee Iranians freedom of expression and assembly – as well as the right to choose their elected leaders – is “the path toward a free and secular Iran”. democratic and non-nuclear.

It comes as mass protests continue to survey Iran in the wake of the death in September of 22-year-old Mohsa Amini while in the custody of the Islamic theocracy’s “morality police” for violating strict requirements that women cover their heads in public.

Since then, a large number of incidents involving abuses and even deaths at the hands of the regime have been documented amid an ongoing crackdown on protests, with clips circulating showing Iranian regime officers brutally attacking protesters.

Representatives of the Iranian Parliament in exile, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) have claimed Iran – the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism – is currently experiencing a revolution “in the making”, as the Islamic Republic can no longer contain the current uprising.

He also expressed unwavering support for the Iranian resistance while criticizing Team Biden’s new concessions to “tyrants” in Tehran, his “effective abandonment of our ally Israel,” and his “disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan,” which emboldened “opponents of a freedom” that now feels “weakened.” in the American Administration.
