New York Mets fans hold their breath as a dominant Edwin Diaz injures his knee during Puerto Rico’s celebration of the World Baseball Classic on Wednesday.
Immediately after clinching their place in the WBC semifinals, the team celebrated near the hill.
However, Diaz got off, and the celebration suddenly became somber.

Diaz was taken to a dirty area and put in a wheelchair where he was rolled into the clubhouse.
His brother, Alexis, who is also on the team, was crying on the field.
If Diaz’s injury is significant, the damage it causes to the dead is insurmountable.
Diaz was by far the best in baseball last year, putting up historic numbers. He hit a 1.31 ERA last season, easily his career low, striking out 17.1 strikeouts in nine innings pitched.
He finished ninth in NL Cy Young Award voting.
Diaz became a dominant closer with the Seattle Mariners and was traded to the Mets prior to the 2019 season — however, his senior season was one he won’t forget. His ERA was 5.59, he lost his job, and seemed to be giving up the long ball the entire time. But he made a huge transition.

Since the start of the 2020 season, he has rebounded to normal with a 2.27 ERA and struck out 257 batters in 150.1 innings pitched.
The Mets re-signed Diaz to a five-year, $102 million deal in the offseason, the largest deal ever for a reliever.
His music “Narco” by Blasterjaxx and Timmy Trumpet has also grown somewhat of a following, and there is now a debate as to whether it is better than Mariano Rivera’s “Enter Sandman”.

The “Amazin’ Mets” won 101 games last year, but fell short of a division title with the Atlanta Braves and exited the postseason in the wild card round against the San Diego Padres.
Diaz’s Mets teammate Francisco Lindor is the starting shortstop for the Puerto Rican team.
