I avoid paying rent by living in a shed in my parents’ backyard

A woman has moved into a shed in her parents’ backyard and proudly shows off her rent-free hippie hideout just steps away from her actual home.

Anyah Warren, 21, of Boise, Idaho, toured her one-room condo Tik Tok After a viewer commented that she “lives in a king’s penthouse,” adding, “I love this so much.”

I live in a shed. The college student said with a smile.

Warren pans the camera around her parents’ backyard, which features stone walkways and lots of lush greenery. She noted that the shed was located right next to their house.

“So I have this step that’s like a little porch, and that wall opens up,” she explained, explaining how it gives her a view of the bamboo plant outdoors from her bed.

She also has an entrance door on the side of the shed which she uses to access the room, which is about the size of a small studio apartment.

The space is eclectically decorated with a canvas hanging above the bed, several plants, floating shelves, posters, and a salt lamp.

“I have my desk, a TV, my bed, and then this view sitting in my bed,” she said of the setup.

Then I have a nightstand with the essentials, a cute little chair, plants, shelves, and a fridge. I have this mirror to look at clothes and then this is my wardrobe.

The small cabin is an adequate size for one person and has shelves and rods for hanging her clothes, but it was full of stuff.

“It’s totally clean now,” she joked of the mess.

So yeah. This is my roof,” she concluded in the video, which has been viewed more than 1.5 million times.

Warren confirmed that she was a fan of the living arrangement in the caption, writing, “I love my rent-free penthouse.”

The only thing missing is a bathroom and kitchen, but she indicated in the comments that she only uses the ones in her parents’ house.

Warren answered some viewers’ questions about her fake apartment in a follow-up clip after someone asked her about her “fault status.”

Honestly, she said, I don’t have a problem with spiders, mosquitoes, or flies. I have the door and window open now, not a single fly here. I have to worry about leaving food outside because of the ants.

People were also curious about the temperature in the shed, but she explained it had air conditioning and a heater.

When it’s hot, I have an air conditioner. When it’s cold, I have a fireplace, and when it’s mild, I leave the door open,” she said.

As for the bathroom and kitchen, she explained how easy it was for her to go to her parents’ house and use their amenities.

I walk 10 feet indoors. As you walk in the bathroom there [and] “There’s the kitchen,” she told the viewers.

Warren admitted in a previous clip that when she was younger she thought she would get a job and move away and go to an out-of-state school, but she did just the opposite.

She ended up attending college in her hometown, living in her parents’ backyard, and being a “stonemaid”.

Warren, who filmed her stealth tour a few years ago, moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, this winter to go snowboarding.

It is unclear if she will return to her hut this spring.
