Ghanaian actress,Akuapem Poloo,who was convicted by a Ghanian judge and sentenced to 90 days in prison for posing nude with her son has been granted bail.
The controversial Gollywood actress sparked media outage when she shared a nude photo of herself and her son to mark his birthday. This led many human rights activist to demand her persecution.
Eàrlier this week,reports broke out that she had been convicted and sentenced to 90 days in prison (3 months). This was met with mixed reactions as the internet went agog,many Netizens including celebrities like Cardi B,Tonto Dikeh and many others used their social media platforms and influence to request for her release. A petition was made for her and over ten thousand people signed it, the hashtag #freepoloo started trending.
On Wednesday,April,2021,an Accra High Court granted the actress bail with two sureties to be justified. As part of the bail condition, Poloo has to report to the case investigator every two weeks and also expected to deposit her passport with the registrar of the court.
The court case which was presided by Justice Ruby Aryeetey ,said she will only travel with the express permission of the court.
The court also stated that the actress has satisfied the four grounds of bail pending appeal.
This appeal was made by her lawyer, who filed a motion appealing her 90 days jail term and also appealing for a pending bail.
