One expert has claimed that Germany is rapidly descending into an “environmental dictatorship” under the country’s green economy minister.
Professor Manuel Freundel, a member of RWI Essen (Leibniz Institute for Economic Research, Essen), criticized Robert Habeck, Germany’s Minister for Economics and Climate Change, saying that the country was turning into an “environmental dictatorship” under his watch.
The statement came in response to Habeck’s latest big reset plan that would see oil and gas heating completely banned in the country from 2045, with the minister also planning to implement restrictions on heating systems allowed in the German market much earlier.
With Habeck also implementing several other already controversial energy policies, this was apparently the last straw for Professor Freundel, who expressed outrage about the proposed plan.

Freundel’s criticism, though it was the latest of Minister Habeck’s, is not the first to hit the ruling German official, as the current government’s handling of the ongoing energy crisis has angered even some of Germany’s Green allies.
The Green Minister’s handling of the energy crisis has not left many in the country well off, as soaring electricity and gas prices have wreaked havoc on both citizens and businesses within the EU nation-state.
