The combined Garioch/Turriff undersea bowlers are in the final of the Scottish Bowling Women’s Cup for the first time after beating Arbroath 8-2 ​​in the semi-final writes Mike Barron.

They actually only won one of their six matches and that was away against Arbroath and they lost the second leg in Inverurie.

Team coordinator Sheila Redford commented: “We are disappointed with the relegation, but we have lost some close matches against strong opposition.

“Obviously we learned from the experience.

“In the Scottish Cup we originally met the teams from the north and we felt we were playing well.

“It was a fantastic performance for the team to beat East Kilbride 8-2 in the quarter-finals.

“Our confidence was high before meeting Arbroath and, as a team, we won three of the four rinks.”
