The 25-year-old singer will perform at the event in Liverpool with the song I Wrote A Song, which was revealed on BBC Radio 2 this morning.
Mueller was chosen by the heads of the BBC and the global management company TaP Music, which counted Lana Del Rey and Ellie Goulding among its clients.
TaP was behind selecting Sam Ryder as the UK’s entrant in the 2022 eventas it changed the fortunes of the country and came second after Ukraine.
May Mueller said: “I’m so excited to be at Eurovision this year and represent the UK! I’ve loved watching Eurovision my whole life so to be competing in such a huge music competition is simply amazing.
“I am a huge fan of the many artists who have achieved success at Eurovision, from ABBA to Måneskin! Sam Ryder was absolutely fantastic last year and proved the UK can get back to the left side of the leaderboard.
“I wrote the song I wrote a song a few months ago when I was going through hard times and wanted to feel strong about relationships, so being chosen for this year’s UK Eurovision song is honestly a dream.”

Mueller was 19 when she wrote her first song, Close, which was produced by a family friend and “paid” for with wine rather than money.
Mueller’s early musical influences included Prince and Sade – while in more recent years Gwen Stefani, Florence Welch and Lily Allen have influenced her.
Her releases to date have explored “dysfunctional relationships and disturbing sensibilities with wit and exuberance,” according to her record label Capitol.
In recent years, she’s worked with a chart-topping girl group, including girl group Little Mix, rapper Aitch, music producer, and DJ Sigala.
Her 2021 single Better Days, featuring Neiked and Polo G, peaked at number 32 in the UK charts.

Muller has 126,000 followers on Instagram and more than 6.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
In 2019, she supported Little Mix on the LM5 Tour – their last tour to feature former member Jesy Nelson.
