President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Wednesday that Turkey would be cutting electricity and natural gas prices while promising to increase the minimum wage, local media say.
According to the report, electricity prices will be reduced by 15 percent, and gas prices for industrial users will be reduced by 20 percent in April, Erdogan told lawmakers from his ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) in Parliament.
Turkiye’s annual inflation fell to 55.18 percent in February, marking a significant regression from the peak of 85.5 percent – a 24-year high – registered last October.
