EndSARS Peace Walk : Falz And Mr Macaroni Decline Governor’s Invitation

Nigeria entertainers, Folarin Falana a.k.a Falz and Debo Adedayo a.k.a Mr Macaroni have reacted to Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu invitation for a peace walk.

The governor during his press briefing on Tuesday at the government house in Alausa, Ikeja announced taht he was organising a peace walk to aid the healing of the land as had invited Singer Falz and Comedian, Mr Macaroni alongside Seun Kuti to join him in the walk.

Though, at the time of reporting, Seun Kuti has kept mute, Falz and Mr Macaroni have broken their silence.

The two superstars openly declined invitation for the peace walk.

Mr Macaroni recounted have he was molested, badly tortured because he participated in the EndSARS protest.

He stated that he is not focused on losing weight and if he decides to he would prefer using the gym than walking.

He went on to question if it isn’t the same peace walk which Nigerian Youths did last year which led to the list of lives, imprisonment and isolation of the protesters.

Recounting how he was arrested and stripped naked for torturing with officials inquiry why he wants to disturb the governor, he questioned if Sanwo Olu wants him to take another round of beating.

He refused to attend the peace walk as he noted how the recommendations made by the panel haven’t been implemented.

He said that until the implementation, youths we no longer trust the government.

He asserted that the government has to be sincere before there can be healing in Nigeria.

He concluded by affirming that he isn’t at war with anyone but wants the government to be transparent, fair and loving to the citizens for them to live better lives.

Abeg o. If I wan lose weight, I go go gym. Same peaceful Walk wey Nigerians youths do wey dem kill them? Some are still in prison… Some have gone into hiding. Their lives no longer theirs all because we decided to walk against police brutality”.

“The last walk I do, na so dem bundle me, strip me naked, brutalized and dehumanize me. I no carry gun, I no carry weapon.
As dem dey beat me, dem dey ask why I dey disturb Mr Governor.
Now dem say make I come do walk. For another round of beating?”.

“I humbly decline the invitation of Me Governor. The Government themselves set up a panel. The panel has made recommendations. I believe that genuine peacemaking will begin by first implementing the recommendations of the panel. Then we can begin to trust the government”.

“Mr Governor has said in his speech. That to be a center of Excellence,we have to be a Center of Truth. Before there can be healing, the government has to be sincere. There just be acceptance of wrongdoings and willingness to correct them”.

“Finally, I’m not at war with anyone. Not with the Government, police or politicians. All we are asking is that our leaders place value on our lives as citizens and lead us with love, fairness, truth, justice, to enable all Nigerians live a better life in peace and unity”.

Falz also took to his Twitter account to decline the invite.

He noted how young Nigerians are still being harassed and extored by police officers with the governor being quiet about it.

He questioned if he isn’t aware of it.

Citing a word from his speech where he asserted that Nigerians need to be one if we want to be a smart city, he reminded him how the youths were killed by armed forces which the government want to sweep under the carpet.

He questioned if that was is method of being a just city.

He noted how they were killed without any justice being served and wondered how peace can reign when there is absence of justice.

“Young Nigerians, till today, are still being constantly harrassed and extorted by police officers!! You were awfully quiet about that. Or are you not aware?
In this same speech, you said “To he a smart city, we first must be a just one”
Remember that young Nigerians that had their lives snatched away by weapons wielded by our own armed forces? You want to sweep that under the carpet? Is that how to establish a just city?
This suggestion of a “walk for peace” sounds like a joke and a very disrespectful one at that.
People were murdered in cold blood and absolutely no idea of justice has been served more than a year after.
How can there be peace without justice?”.
