After Liverpool beat Glasgow and other British cities to host Eurovision 2023 on behalf of Ukraine, a Scottish theater company decided to create their own event in honor of the annual competition.
The Eurovision Sock Contest will welcome performers from all over Europe at Peebles’ Eastgate Theatre, on Friday, 3 March.
Brought to Eastgate by the Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre, the show follows on from appearances by the theatrical company in Britain’s Got Talent, the Edinburgh Fringe, and international tours.
A spokesperson for the company said: “The silly shoes are back on the floor with the new show after appearances on Britain’s Got Talent, annual dates at the Edinburgh Fringe and international tours everywhere from Australia to the Danish Channel Islands to the Cheltenham Literary Festival.
This year, the company has turned its unique brand of songs, sketches, socks and violence to Eurovision and delivers an hour of irreverent songs and jokes.
These are gags without limits with songs from everywhere – from Scandinavia to France and the Austro-Hungarian Empire – all performed for the joy of the audience vote.
“Because the show is a bit sassy, it is recommended for those over 12 years old.”
The Eurovision Sock Competition will take place at Eastgate on Friday, 3 March at 7.30pm.
Tickets are available from the Box Office on 01721 725777 or online at eastgatearts.com
