The Liverpool side so far have lost two of their last three matches in all competitions, going down 1-0 to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie and losing 3-0 at Watford just this last Sunday – their first Premier League defeat of the season. Jurgen Klopp fielded weakened sides against Everton and Shrewsbury Town in rounds three and four of the FA Cup, but those recent losses have placed added importance on this tie.
While on the other hand, Chelsea made light performance of Championship sides Nottingham Forest and Hull City in the previous two rounds, but this game seem to be far tougher test in what is a repeat of the 2012 final, which the Blues won 2-1.
CHELSEA XI (4-3-3): Kepa Arrizabalaga; Cesar Azpilicueta (c), Antonio Rudiger, Kurt Zouma, Marcos Alonso; Mateo Kovacic, Billy Gilmour, Ross Barkley; Willian, Olivier Giroud, Pedro.
LIVERPOOL XI (4-3-3): Adrian; Neco Williams, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson; Adam Lallana, Fabinho, Curtis Jones; Takumi Minamino, Sadio Mane, Divock Origi.
Chelsea Subs: Faustino Anjorin, Michy Batshuayi, Reece James, Jorginho, Willy Caballero, Fikayo Tomori, Mason Mount.
Liverpool Subs: Andy Lonergan, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Pedro Chirivella, James Milner, Joel Matip, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
At the end of today’s game, it turns out that Liverpool have now lost 3 of their last four games in all competitions and need to really put in some hard work ahead of their Saturday’s visit of Bournemouth in the Premier League.
