Crystal Palace has confirmed the dismissal of Patrick Vieira from his position as technical director of the club’s first team.
The decision comes after a series of poor performances for the Eagles in 2023, who failed to win any of their 12 games since the start of the new year.
A statement from club chairman Steve Parish on the club’s website read: “This difficult decision has been made with great regret.
Ultimately, results in recent months have put us in a precarious position in the league and we felt change was necessary to give us the best chance of retaining Premier League status.
However, Patrick’s influence since joining us in the summer of 2021 has been significant, and he commands great respect from myself and all of his colleagues.
He led the side to the English Wembley Cup semi-finals and a respectable 12th-place finish last season as he played some sensational football, which has been a difficult and crucial campaign for the club given the changes we made to the squad prior to his arrival.
Patrick has done everything he can for the club, and we all thank him and his team for their service.
