Cost of living: Glasgow takeaways no longer serve dinner

Sprigg, known for its fresh salads and signature dishes, launched the dinner concept in October 2022 via Deliveroo for customers to choose dinner until 9pm.

But after several months of serving lunch and dinner, the team announced that they would end their dinner service with immediate effect.

They explained that high costs and a lack of resources contributed to the decision, but they would remain open to resuming dinner service in the future.

A statement read: “We are truly sorry to announce the termination of our dinner project with immediate effect.

“It needed more time but in the face of such high costs we assessed that we did not have the resources to give it the support it needed and deserved to grow to its full potential.

“For many, we entered 2023 filled with uncertainty about our operating costs and as such we made some tough decisions quickly.

“Heart said keep going,” said the president. “Refocus. So we are redoubling our efforts in our core lunch business to ensure our busy stores are at their best.”

To all of our diners, thank you so much for the support and we’re sorry to disappoint you.

“Maybe one day we’ll dust off the dinner archives, but until then, it’s lunch as you know and love it.”
