Coach Hajime Moriyasu explained the reason behind Kyogo and Hatat’s absence from the Japan squad.
He said: “As I think we can all agree, (Hatate and Furuhashi) will be perfectly able to contribute to the team, but this time I wanted to try out some different players and that’s why they weren’t picked. I’ve watched all of Celtic’s games and they’ve seen what they’ve accomplished and their presence in the team.
“But there’s nothing to stop you being called up, it’s an overall decision. We think about the level of the league and various other factors when making the decision.”
