Celtic star Cameron Carter-Vickers is out of the USA squad

Earlier today, it was confirmed that both Kyogo and Reo Hatate have been snubbed by Japan ahead of their upcoming matches.

There was a place for Daizen Maeda, but two of Hoops’ best players so far have been omitted in this campaign.

Now, Carter Vickers appears to have been left out of the US squad for its matches at the end of this month.

The Americans will resume their CONCACAF Nations League campaign with matches against Grenada and El Salvador.

However, Carter Vickers, who has been outstanding for Celtic in recent months, will not feature.

Carter Vickers was present at the USA World Cup.

Interim coach Anthony Hudson shed some light on why some players were left out.

He said: “There are a number of men who deal with varying degrees of injury issues.

“We have spoken with the clubs, and in each case we have worked together to make a decision in the best interest of the player and do everything we can to ensure he is available to us this summer.”

There was also no room for Rangers playmaker Malik Tillman.

Coach Hajime Moriyasu explained the reason behind Kyogo and Hatat’s absence from the Japan squad.

He said: “As I think we can all agree, (Hatate and Furuhashi) will be perfectly able to contribute to the team, but this time I wanted to try out some different players and that’s why they weren’t picked. I’ve watched all of Celtic’s games and they’ve seen what they’ve accomplished and their presence in the team.

“But there’s nothing to stop you being called up, it’s an overall decision. We think about the level of the league and various other factors when making the decision.”
