Celtic legend Martin O’Neill pays tribute to his son-in-law for his Oscar nod

As news of this year’s Oscar nominees spread, the 70-year-old took to Twitter to congratulate his brother-in-law James Friend, who got a nod for Best Cinematography for All Quiet on the Western Front.

He wrote: “What a wonderful day! Huge congratulations to my son-in-law James Friend on being nominated for an Oscar in Cinematography for his amazing work on All Quiet on the Western Front #Netflix.

“A great movie and a brilliant filmmaking team, well done everyone involved.”

The Netflix film has a staggering 14 nominations and stars Felix Kammerer, Albrecht Schöch, and Daniel Brühl, whose other acting credits include Inglourious Basterds and The Bourne Ultimatum.
