A British teenager was killed yesterday in an avalanche while on a ski tour in Switzerland.
The authorities are currently searching for another person who was also involved in Tuesday’s disaster in Meiringen in canton Bern.
The age and gender of the missing person is unknown.
The 18-year-old who died in the avalanche was originally from England but had been living in Bern.
The avalanche occurred at about 4.25pm. Mountain rescue teams and a helicopter were deployed to assist survivors.

A group of people were on a ski tour together when the two of them set off in Gestilwang when an avalanche ripped through and buried them beneath them, according to Bern cantonal police.
Emergency services could only recover one of the buried man, an 18-year-old Briton, dead.
The search for the second person was cut short at about 7:30pm local time last night and resumed this morning at The Light.
Crews of the Swiss Alpine Rescue, Swiss Alpine Rescue, several Rega and Air-Glaciers, Swiss Helicopters, mountain specialists and other personnel of the Bernese Cantonal Police and the Bernese Welfare Team are searching for the second person.
On March 12, there were already several avalanches in the canton of Bern, according to a Swiss newspaper 20 minutes. Seven people were buried overall, and one man died in hospital after recovering.
