Bangladesh beat Ireland by ten wickets to win the D-I series

Fast bowler Hassan Mahmood claimed his first five wins as Bangladesh defeated Ireland by 10 wickets to take the One Day International series 2-0.

Bangladesh, who won the first match by 183 runs for their biggest ODI victory before the second match ended, had never before beaten a team by ten wickets.

Opting to bat first in cloudy conditions on Thursday, Ireland were bowled out for 101 in 28.1 overs.

The Bangladesh side took all ten wickets for the first time in their history, with Hasan taking 5-32, Taskin Ahmed 3-26 and Abadot Hussain 2-29.

The hosts hit the target effortlessly, making a lossless 102 in just 13.1 overs.

Leighton Dass was not out 50 off 38 balls after hitting 10 fours in his fiftieth over, while captain Tamim Iqbal scored the winning single on a 41-ball run which included five sixes and fours.

Only two Irish players have reached double figures, with Curtis Campher posting a team best 36 and Lorcan Tucker adding 28.

Hassan ran into the Irish top order with an impressive display of pace bowling, leaving Ireland in tatters at 3-22 in the ninth over when Taskin Ahmed bowled in the event.

Taskin had skipper Andrew Balberni caught by Najm Hussain at first slip for a six to open his tally.

Tucker and Kaffer then put up some resistance until Abadot stepped into Tucker’s trap.

Hassan, in his second spell, disposed of Camfer, who was slowing down the delivery and Taskin caught him in the fine, deep leg.

Hassan completed his five overs and finished the Irish innings when he got Graham Hume leg-by-for-three by video review.
