Australian pop star Delta Goodrem has postponed her Glasgow concert

The Australian singer-songwriter was due to perform at the O2 Academy in Glasgow on Wednesday 5 April as part of her Hearts On The Run tour.

However, in a post on Instagram, the Born to Try singer revealed that she made the “difficult decision” to reschedule after doctors ordered her to go on “strict vocal rest” after overusing her vocal cords.

She wrote: “It pains my heart to share with you that we have had to make the difficult decision to reschedule my upcoming shows in the UK and Europe.

“I am very grateful to have been so busy at this moment in my career, but from overextending myself with a number of projects, including preparing new music for all of you, I have unfortunately overused my vocal cords to the point of being without a voice for extended periods of time.

“I’ve been going on this month thinking my voice will heal, but as I sit here writing from rehearsals with a show ready, my doctors have just ordered me to take strict vocal breaks and not sing.

“I am very excited to have a great year of touring ahead.

“Nothing makes me happier than being on stage and performing for you in full flight.”

Delta said shows will be rescheduled “as soon as possible” and tickets will still be valid for the new dates.

One frustrated fan wrote on Twitter: “The news of Delta Goodrem having to postpone her UK and EU tour is not what I wanted to hear this morning.

“Although I understand it is for good reason if she loses her voice, I am now apprehensive in case my new Glasgow date conflicts with another gig I have put up. I hope not!”
