An asteroid the size of a house that was discovered on Monday is expected to pass near Earth on Friday.

The near-Earth object, named 2023 EYIt was posted to NASA’s asteroid database and is listed as one of the following five asteroids.

Scientists estimate that it was about 54 feet across.

A near-Earth object is classified as any space object that can be located within 30 million miles of Earth.

The asteroid’s closest approach to Earth is approximately 149,000 miles away.

For perspective, the Moon is about 238,900 miles from Earth, on average.

Most NEOs are asteroids ranging from about 10 feet to roughly 25 miles across, according to NASA.
