However, when Aberdeen’s Dave Walker received an invoice from the campsite at Melrose that he had booked in February asking for $68 for the pitch on April 8, he knew something was wrong.
“It was all coming together,” he said, “and then I got the bill.”

Upon receiving the bill, Dave, 54, realized he had accidentally booked a campsite in Melrose, South Australia.
He said Frontier Telegraph: “It was embarrassing.
“Tickets for the Seven are usually the hardest to get.
“I managed to get two tickets and then proceeded to look for a pitch overnight on the 8th of April.
“I thought everything was coming together, and then it wasn’t.
“I knew something was wrong when the bill arrived.”

Although he can find humor in his mistake, Dave hopes someone in the Borderlands can help him find a solution to his seven-stay challenge.

He added: “I thought we could get off and go home one day, or we could take the train but it’s hard to do.
“A corner of a farm or field suits us.
“I’m happy to pay cash or whiskey or whatever.”

Dave has been an avid rugby fan since he was a teenager, and hopes to be able to watch a sunny rugby tournament this spring.
“I haven’t given up yet,” he added.
