Kala Homes (North) has launched a major initiative aimed at expanding support to the Aberdeenshire communities in which it builds.

The Community Pledge is an initiative across the Kala Group and will see customized activity programs created for each development in Kala, including multiple new communities across the North East.

These pledges will have an impact on thousands of people across the UK as they are rolled out over the next two years.

Each undertaking will be developed by Kala teams on the ground and communicated to the local community.

While developments already contribute to communities through Section 75 contributions, the pledges will exceed any planning commitments, giving added value.

A range of tailored measures will be incorporated into each pledge, to meet the community’s specific needs, including donations, volunteering, learning programmes, support initiatives and much more.

The Community Pledge is an evolution of the many successful community programs Calla has delivered over the years, including the Community Grant which has provided over £400,000 of funding to over 400 organizations and projects within communities across Scotland and England since 2016.

The Community Pledge will go a step further by bringing measurable and meaningful benefit to neighborhoods by investing in and enhancing the core of what brings the community together.

Pledges will include Kala’s New Schools initiative, Land to Life, Showhome of Support – which supports local talent and businesses, and Stay Safe, Stay Away, a health and safety educational program to raise awareness among young people about the dangers of play. construction sites.

Calla North’s first pledge has already launched at TwentyFour, Rosemount in Aberdeen, and includes initiatives such as the Showhome of Support, volunteers decorating and donating furniture to the Samaritans branch in Aberdeen, food bank donations and the creation of a sensory garden.

Mike Naismith, Managing Director, Kala Homes (North) said: “People and communities have always been at the heart of what we do and the Community Pledge is about making a commitment to the areas in which we build in a more meaningful way.

“Our aim is to directly impact the people around our projects and the places and organizations that matter to them.

“This gives communities in Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen, and our partners such as local authorities, subcontractors and landowners, the belief that we will not only deliver high quality homes, we will add value and leave a lasting and positive legacy.

“We are proud to launch our first pledge at TwentyFour, Rosemount and look forward to unveiling more plans to support communities in the area as we launch more pledges this year.”
