A Glasgow musician blows the judges away during the competition

Jack Geddes was shocked when he got the chance to play on stage with British nu metal band Wargasm on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old had seen the band perform at The Garage nightclub in October and was inspired to audition to play alongside them.

Glasgow times:

He traveled to London where he impressed the jury and was chosen as a finalist allowing him to join the band at the famous metal venue The Black Heart.

The unique show saw Jack and fellow fan Taylor Wheeler, 31, vying to get their very own Jackson American Series guitar.

Jake said, “Being on stage with the band was crazy.

“I’m used to being up front and partying that way but playing on stage with the band, and on such a great guitar, was something else entirely.

“Nothing is going to beat that feeling of being on stage with the band, the song playing and everyone giving me a look to let me know I was doing great.

“The audience was interested in it too, even though they didn’t know me and weren’t technically there for me, they got into it.

“I love every second of it.”

Glasgow times:

Jack, a music photographer, has been playing guitar since he was 11 and now has a 10-year-old.

He came in second but was lauded for his impressive skills at the event which was free to a small number of lucky fans who were treated to a roaring Wargasm backed by alternative metal newcomer Lake Malice.

The talented performer said: “I was very happy. I didn’t even think about winning the guitar, I loved to play in front of everyone and with my favorite bands.

“Tons of people came up to me and hugged me and said ‘well done’, I definitely made a lot of new friends!”

Before the party I felt a little anxious, but that all changed after the sound check.

“I don’t tend to get freaked out anymore because my job involves working with artists in the music industry, so I’m used to meeting people whose music I listen to a lot.

“But for whatever reason, preparing for the band reunion got me really excited.

“Of course, I got to meet them and they were all really cool and original people!

“Sam even made sure I had a chance to play the song at soundcheck regardless of the fact that we were running over time.”

It was also broadcast globally over the hotel’s radio with viewers voting on who should take home the winner’s guitar, but Wargasm had the final say and Taylor was crowned as the winner.

Jackson American Series guitars launched in September, starting with the Soloist model that both Taylor and Jack competed for.

It was named the brand’s fastest model ever – for players with a need for speed, which is what Jack displayed on the bright green musical instrument.

Photos from the music event showed the youngster performing on stage with Wargasm members Milkie Way and Sam Matlock as fans cheered.
